The CBC Media Centre team and Version 10 collaborated on a redesign of the CBC Media Centre, replacing an aging web platform with a new one equipped with more advanced features. Its structure and offering share several similarities with the redesign carried out in 2021 for Radio-Canada, but the platform has been adapted to its market and includes significant distinctions to facilitate adoption by users.

The web platform offers the following features:

  • Public and member sections: Content is displayed in ways tailored to these two audiences.
  • Powerful editing tools: A new, more user-friendly CMS simplifies operations and accelerates workflows for site managers.
  • A search engine: Enables easy rediscovery of content.
  • Simplified navigation: Consistent with the broadcaster’s multiplatform offering. Productions can live across multiple formats over time, with content reorganized by thematic affinities such as sports, news, current affairs, documentaries, galas, and special broadcasts.
  • Press release distribution: Content can be converted and shared as press releases to a list of registered members, who receive them based on their interests and affinities.
  • Enhanced video capabilities: New options for viewing videos are available both on the site and within press releases.

The mandate included:

  • Creating a new architecture to integrate both private and public offerings into a single destination.
  • Migration of the Media Centre to a new cloud infrastructure.
  • Migration of archives, content, and complex legacy media files from previously customized systems. Archives were carried over into the new version to preserve their integrity, with a better visually enhanced presentation.
  • Implementation of a long-term support and continuous improvement plan, which has been ongoing since the platform’s launch.

Since its launch, the CBC Media Centre has effectively met the communication needs of the broadcaster’s press relations team. Through daily use of the platform’s tools, content is showcased in a compelling and effective way.
